Traditionally, the treatment of eyebags has been surgery. Excess skin and fat is removed via an incision underneath the lower eyeline. However, there is a significant risk of ectropion, or the excessive show of the ‘white’ of the eyes from the tightened skin pulling the lower eyelid down. Also the lower eyelid can appear a little too hollow sometimes after the operation, and this can be ageing rather than rejuvenating.
By filling the trough underneath the eyebag, the eyebag becomes less apparent, as this smooths the transition between the lower eyelid and the cheek, effectively hiding the lower eyebag. The fillers that are used in this area last for a couple of years or more usually, and do not have the associated risks of surgery.
