Laser Treatment Case Study Video: Victorian Cosmetic Institute
In this video Dr Terri Labberton of the Victorian Cosmetic Institute reviews a patient Yvonne's skin - in order to determine the appropriate use of facial laser treatments. Dr Labberton notices that there are a few broken capillaries, sun spots and uneven skin tone which is quite common among many people.
Dr Labberton analyzes and determines the lasers she will use. The various lasers available are displayed including ; The Gemini Laser which is used and which omits a green wavelength and is attracted to red areas of the skin. It is also attracted to areas of darker pigmentation or areas of a higher melanin count.
The Erbium Laser is appropriate for anyone with an uneven skin tone. Small, benign lesions are not uncommon on the skin. The Erbium Laser can also help to eradicate these areas. This laser is actually attracted to water within the skin and works to vaporize the uneven areas. This is a laser that used very gently and never aggressively to achieve the desired results.
The ruby laser is also modeled. As with all laser treatments, more than one round of treatment may be necessary (and is in many cases) to achieve the desired result in skin tone.
After the treatment with lasers, Dr.Labberton mentions after care. There may initially be swelling for a few days afterward, but this will go away in a matter of days. A bit of redness and swelling after being treated with lasers is also to be expected. Pigmented areas may become darker in many cases after treatment. This is normal and the spots will eventually form a crust and fall off on their own. It is extremely important to allow these crusts to fall off on their own as this will avoid scarring of any kind. In a few days' time, beautiful skin will be revealed.
Each person has specific and unique skin care needs and results that they are seeking out. A laser treatment plan can be specifically designed and tailored to meet the needs of any individual. Beautiful skin awaits!
