Lower Face Anti Wrinkle Injections Video: Victorian Cosmetic Institute
In this video Dr. Terri Labberton from the Victorian Cosmetic Institute discusses lower face anti-wrinkle injections. Lower face anti-wrinkle injections can be beneficial as they smooth the skin and provide a more youthful facial shape and appearance.
Dr. Labberton discusses one use for lower face anti-wrinkle injections, that is, fixing a "gummy smile". A gummy smile is when one shows too much gum when smiling. This can be fixed with injections placed into the muscle that runs up towards the side of the nose. The injection helps to soften the muscle so the lip is not pulled up too high when the individual smiles.
Another common problem that many people face are the small lines that appear across the top of the lip. These are commonly known as "smokers lines" although it's not only smokers who obtain these lines. Anti-wrinkle injections along the top lip line can soften the muscles that cause the vertical lines and reduce their presence.
The next area Dr. Labberton discusses is the use of anti-wrinkle injections in the lower face where to reduce the pull down of the corners of the mouth. Use of this muscle over time can cause a visual crease on each side of the mouth that runs down towards the chin, causing the mouth to droop. The injection is placed towards the bottom of the muscle, near the jaw line. Although the results are not immediate, the lines will soften and the drooping look will decrease.
The chin is another area that can become dimpled over time, resulting in the need for anti-wrinkle injections. The injections are put into the chin itself to relax the muscle that causes the chin to fall in. When the chin is opened up, a youthful appearance of the skin is present.
One of the more popular anti-wrinkle injection treatments is for a muscle along the jaw line known as the masseter. Injections are placed into this strong muscle on the jaw line. A strong masseter muscle can be caused by conditions such as teeth grinding. Before the injections are given, the area of muscle is mapped out to provide optimised treatment.
The final treatment Dr. Labberton discusses involves a muscle that comes around the jaw line and down the neck. This sheet of muscle is known as the platysma. As the platysma muscle strengthens, it can result in bands around the neck. Anti-wrinkle injections can be placed along these bands to soften the muscles and relax the neck.
Through a series of lower face anti-wrinkle injections, common protrusions and facial lines can be reduced or completely treated. These injections are quick and results are typically immediate.
