Sitting at the traffic lights on the way to school, your children are laughing. When you look at them in the rear-view mirror, you see them pulling their eyes and forehead back with their hands. As the light turns green, you ask them what was so funny. “Didn’t you see that lady in the car next to us at the traffic lights? She was pulling her forehead skin up and eyes back – it looked funny!”

After school drop off, you think about what they were saying. Although you didn’t notice the lady ‘pulling her face up’ you can guess why she was doing it. She had probably seen what you’ve been noticing on your own face.

Even though you’re only in your early 40’s, your face seems to have dropped down and become saggy. And when you’re tired, the skin above your eyebrows gets droopy. While some of the other school mother’s have also noticed this happening to them, you don’t want to look and feel like you’re in your 50’s now!

A non-surgical brow lift is a cosmetic procedure that tightens and raises the skin on the upper third of your face, specifically the forehead and eyebrows. It can smooth out furrows between your brows, raise drooping eyebrows, open up your eyes and remove lines on your forehead.

Why do brows drop down and eyes appear less open as we age?

During the ageing process, your skin is less elastic and loses volume while your muscles lose tone and bulk. Combined with the effects of gravity, the upper third of your face drops down. This leads to a dropping down of the upper third of your face.

Another effect of facial ageing is less structural support for your face. As you age, your skin doesn’t ‘spring back’ like it did in your twenties or thirties. When your facial tissues start to sag you may notice your:

  • Eyebrows dropping down and losing their natural arch,
  • Outer brow dropping down, creating a sad appearance,
  • Cheeks being less prominent and sagging downwards.

How can I lift my brow non-surgically with dermal fillers and anti-wrinkle injections?

A non-surgical brow lift using dermal fillers will restore your skin’s lost volume. This can be done in conjunction with a non-surgical brow lift using anti-wrinkle injections.

Non-surgical brow lift using dermal fillers

When our highly trained, experienced cosmetic doctors and nurses inject dermal filler underneath your eyebrow, the brow will lift up. This will also help soften the skeleton look around your eyes that happens during the ageing process. We can also use dermal fillers to reduce the sag of your eyelids.

Dermal fillers are cosmetic injections that revolumise and restore areas of your face non-surgically. We use several brands but can’t name them due to Therapeutic Goods Administration rules. Dermal fillers made from a clear gel substance that is naturally found in your skin. They vary with their viscosity, thickness and longevity.

Finer dermal fillers are usually used in areas where your skin is fine and smoothness is critical, such as your temple and eye. Thicker dermal fillers can be injected deeper in areas that need more volume and bulk, like your jaw line or cheeks. You can read more information about dermal fillers here.

Non-surgical brow lift using anti-wrinkle injections

Anti-wrinkle injections are effective at relaxing certain muscles around the eyes to help create an overall lift in the eyebrows. When our highly skilled cosmetic doctors and nurses carefully place anti-wrinkle injections into these muscles, your eyebrows get released from the downward pull, and the forehead muscles (frontalis muscle) can lift the eyebrows up without being antagonised. This results in your eyebrow height increasing a few millimetres, creating a more open eyed, fresh look.

How can Ulthera lift my brow non-surgically?

Ulthera is an effective way to lift your brows and open your eyes without surgery and no downtime. Using the Ultherapy device, ultrasound waves focus to a deep point within your skin. Ultherapy coagulates and heats skin proteins, which stimulate collagen formation. Using heat Ulthera targets your deep skin layers, including the superficial muscular aponeurotic system (SMAS) layer and the deep dermis.

During the ageing process, the shape of your collagen changes. This results in the foundations of your skin becoming uneven and lax leading sagging and the formation of wrinkles. When collagen is heated, between 60 and 70 degrees Celsius, your collagen fibres contract to their original tight shape. As this happens, neocollagenesis occurs; a process that creates new collagen. This results in your skin tightening and lifting.

In one treatment, Ulthera can effectively tighten and lift:

  • The jaw line,
  • Chin,
  • Neck, and
  • Brow.

While Ultherapy is effective, it’s important to note that the results will not look like a surgical facelift or brow lift. Ultherapy offers a non-surgical alternative for patients who want to slow down the ageing process with subtle changes to their face.
