Essential facts you must know about non-surgical skin tightening and lifting

There are many scientific reasons why your skin loses its tightness including pregnancy, ageing, weight loss or weight gain. You may also notice:

  • Bone depletion
  • Volume loss, and
  • A reduction in elastin and collagen production.

The effects of facial ageing also means you’ll have less structural support for your face. In your twenties, your skin would ‘spring back’, but as you head into your thirties, forties and beyond, the downward pull of gravity stops this from happening.

Traditionally, to lift or tighten the skin on your face, you needed to have surgery. Surgical procedures include:

  • Eyelid skin reduction blepharoplasty
  • Brow lifts, and
  • Facelifts to elevate and tighten the skin.

But today, surgery to tighten and lift your facial skin isn’t the only option available. We offer various non-surgical skin tightening and skin lifting methods to give you noticeable but subtle results. Since 2005, our minimally invasive techniques have given our patients the skin tightening and lifting results they desire.

What non-surgical skin tightening and skin lifting treatments are available?

The effective non-surgical skin tightening and skin lifting methods we use includes:

  • Ultrasound or radiotherapy, including Ulthera and Infini
  • Anti-wrinkle injections
  • Dermal fillers
  • Lasers, including carbon dioxide lasers.

All our non-surgical skin lifting and tightening methods are performed at 3 convenient Melbourne locations. Our patients appreciate our luxurious, ultra-modern facilities and value that their procedures are walk-in, walk-out.

Ultherapy uses focused ultrasound energy to a single point that is deep to your facial skin. During your treatment, thousands of these points are targeted and heated as deep as 4mm into your skin. As a result of this, new collagen is formed and your skin tightens. Find out more here

Infini combines skin needling with radiofrequency one device. With up to 49 needles entering your skin at one time, the radiofrequency current gets applied at the tips of the needles. This process heats the skin, and results in skin tightening and new collagen being produced.

Anti-wrinkle injections

Anti-wrinkle injections are based on an inhibitor that relaxes your muscles. In Australia, there are several brands to consider. Due to Therapeutic Goods Administration rules, we’re not able to name the products we use.

At your consultation, we discuss how you’d like to transform and freshen up and your face. By reducing and softening the wrinkles on your face, anti-wrinkle injections can help you look less tired or angry. We treat much more than your laughter and frown lines. Anti-wrinkle injections can also improve your brow shape, reduce your down-turning mouth, reduce your chin dimpling and treat your forehead lines.

We can use anti-wrinkle injections to selectively relax various muscles of your face. When the downward pulling muscles of your face are relaxed, it’s possible to get your upward pulling muscles to get relatively stronger. And this creates an upward lift in your face. Dermal fillers

Because one of the key causes of facial ageing is volume loss, replacing your lost volume can tighten and lift your skin. During the normal ageing process, cheeks can lose volume and start to sag. This can affect the creases and folds where your nose meets your cheeks – the nasolabial folds. When dermal fillers are used in the upper two-thirds of your face, they create structural support to hold up the lower face. Dermal fillers can also be used to improve your skin lift and tightness in your cheeks, jawline, chin and brow. You can find out more about our dermal fillers here

Carbon dioxide laser resurfacing

Carbon dioxide (CO2) lasers can be used to resurface and restore your skin. We use carbon dioxide lasers to:

  • Reduce wrinkles
  • Remove sun damage and pigmentation
  • Improve skin tone and texture, and
  • Tighten skin on the face.

Carbon dioxide laser resurfacing heats and removes a fine layer of the skin. This process remodels your skin’s collagen, which results in significantly firmer, smoother and more even toned skin. We use the Lumenis Ultrapulse carbon dioxide laser because it uses tiny columns of laser energy to resurface your skin. The Lumenis Ultrapulse carbon dioxide laser technology ensures there will be some intact skin between each column. This helps to speed up recovery time. It’s important to note you will need to schedule some downtime with this laser treatment.

While we use the Lumenis Ultrapulse carbon dioxide laser to resurface your and tighten your facial skin. It can also reduce:

  • Wrinkles,
  • Sun damage, and
  • Skin pigmentation problems.

At your consultation we spend time discussing the different downtimes and pros and cons of each treatment. Find out more about carbon dioxide laser resurfacing here
