Anti-wrinkle injections with needle

You know you’ve been busy and haven’t been sleeping well lately. After a couple of people asked you why you looked upset and angry, you took a long, hard look in the mirror. That’s when you noticed the permanent furrows between your brows, the deep crow’s feet and the drooping cheeks. You don’t have to ‘go under the knife’ to look fresher and more youthful though. Anti-wrinkle injections and dermal fillers are a non-surgical solution that effectively treats deep wrinkles and fine lines while adding volume to the face.

Dr Natasha Moscato (MBBS, FRACGP, Cosmetic Doctor) used dermal filler and anti-wrinkle treatment to refresh 50-year-old Dianne’s face. During the consultation Dianne explained that she wanted to look fresher and less tired around her eyes. Dr Natasha Moscato noted several areas of Dianne’s face that had lost volume including the upper face, the brow and eye area. She also noticed that there was volume loss in the transition of the tear trough to the cheek.

To create a lift in the upper brow area and reduce crow’s feet around the eyes anti-wrinkle injections were used. Dermal filler treatment was used in the lips, cheeks and jawline. A few weeks after her treatment the patient reported back saying how much she loved her fresher, smoother and more youthful look.

How anti-wrinkle injections and dermal fillers helped a young mother look less tired and more refreshed

Dr Toro Ogundoyin (MBBS, Dip. FSRH, Cosmetic Doctor) used anti-wrinkle injections and dermal filler treatment to help a young mother look and feel less tired. With a constant lack of sleep and a busy life, the patient noticed her eyes had bags under them and her facial muscles had lost volume.

By using dermal fillers Dr Toro Ogundoyin added volume to the patient’s cheeks and chin. Anti-wrinkle injections were used around the brow, crow’s feet and to relax the downward pulling muscles around the mouth. After her first treatment, the patient noted that she loved the subtle, natural changes to her face that helped her look less tired and worn out.

How anti-wrinkle injections can help you look refreshed and younger

Anti-wrinkle injections treat fine lines and wrinkles on the face that are caused by muscle movement. When you look into a mirror and squint, you’ll see lines around your eyes forming. But what happens when you stop squinting? Due to years of constant muscle movement, many people notice that the static lines remain. Anti-wrinkle injections are based on an inhibitor, which relaxes the muscles that have caused the dynamic lines to develop while reducing the permanent static lines.

Since 2005, our highly trained and experienced Cosmetic Doctors and Cosmetic Nurses led by Dr Gavin Chan have focused on the best injection techniques to smooth out upper, middle and lower face wrinkles and fine lines. We believe that anti-wrinkle injections should reduce the severity or intensity of wrinkles and lines, but never make your face appear ‘frozen’.

The common areas of the face that we treat with anti-wrinkle injections include:

  • Bunny lines (the nose lines that appear when the nose moves)
  • Crows feet (the outer corners of your eyes)
  • Down turned mouth
  • Eyebrow area
  • Forehead
  • Glabella (also referred to “11’s” this is the area between the eyebrows)
  • Masseter (the muscle that is used for chewing)
  • Mental crease (the horizontal line between your chin and lower lip)
  • Platysmal bands (the bands of muscle that stand out from the neck and make the neck look stringy in appearance)
  • Upper lip
  • Vertical lip lines

We carefully consider the overall balance of your face and the injection dosage amount. For instance, if the crow’s feet have an inappropriate dose of anti-wrinkle injection it can lead to compensatory muscle contractions under your eyes. This can result in more wrinkles forming.

Similarly if forehead wrinkles are over-treated it can result in your brow appearing lower and heavier than you would like. We believe that wrinkle treatments need to be aesthetically pleasing and subtle.

How dermal fillers can treat your wrinkles and expression lines

One of the first signs of ageing is a loss of facial volume in the eyes, cheeks, brows and lips. Sagging jowls and cheeks can make you look sad and unhappy, even when you’re not. As part of the natural ageing process there is a loss of elasticity in the skin resulting in loose skin and a loss of volume in the lower face. This can occur from the age of 40, but for many people it happens sooner. Facial volume can be replaced with dermal fillers

The common areas of the face that we treat with dermal fillers include:

  • A downward smile
  • A receding, shorter chin
  • Cheeks
  • Chin
  • Corners of the mouth
  • Deep skin hollows and folds
  • Drawing down and thinning of your face
  • Drooping, puffy and tired eyes
  • Eye hollows
  • Hollow cheeks
  • Lines and wrinkles
  • Nasolabial folds
  • Tear troughs
  • Thin lips and ‘smoker’s lines’ above the upper lip
