I had full face dermabrasion 6 yrs ago it was very successful and removed all freckles. After a few years some came back because I didn’t wear sunblock everyday (only during the summer months) I then had IPL laser treatment which was a disaster. Loads more freckles appeared and I was too distressed to continue treatment ( I had 5 sessions) I have now been told that because I had IPL I am not a good candidate for dermabrasion. Can you recommend a treatment that would be safe and remove all freckles (rather than fade them) Thank you
It sounds as though there might be more to what is
triggering your freckles other than just the sun. Typically, if IPL makes any
pigmentation worse, there could be an underlying cause such as hormones, or
trauma, or what we call melasma or chloasma. This may be why dermabrasion is
not the best option for you, as it could make your existing pigmentation worse
by causing trauma to the skin.
I recommend coming in for a consultation, for one of our doctors to assess the
pigmentation and its triggering factors.
Dermabrasion is typically no longer performed by most practitioners, however
there might be other options if the pigment is suitable to treat like Fraxel or
Ruby laser. Both of these options will
need an assessment prior to any treatment by one of our doctors to make sure
you are suitable, and also give you the ideal quote.
