I have pigmentation/brown spot on my face, after having had microdermabrasion I noticed the pigmentation have gone darken – is this normal?
This is a problem called post-inflammatory hyperpigmentation. It usually occurs on those with olive or darker skin types and is due to excessive inflammation / trauma to the skin. The treatment usually requires a prescription lightening cream called Kligman’s formula. Sunscreen is also important on a daily basis. You will need to come in for a consultation to obtain the Kligman’s formula and further advice on the management of your concern.
