Question:

I’m 21 years old and on the pill (I read that this may affect pigmentation). A year ago a small dark splotch appeared on my lower lip and hasn’t disappeared, I’m a little self conscious.
What are my options? What are the potential costs?
Thank you

Answer:

From your description, this sounds like melasma. This is a pigmentation problem that is stimulated by oestrogens (internal oestrogens, and external oestrogens like the pill), and UV radiation. For more information on this condition, please click here;
