Question:
My 11yr old daughter has dark hair on her upper lip and it is starting to upset her, I was wanting some advice on what I could do about it. She is dark skined (maori)
Answer:
The cause of this could be hereditary, or also due to an imbalance of hormones. It would be worth seeing a doctor or endocrinologist (hormone specialist) to see if there is any underlying problem. A blood test could be done to check on the hormone levels. Laser hair removal might help, but might be traumatic on someone her age. We don’t treat patients of this age at our clinic as a result.
