For the month of January, we will be trialling the Liposonix machine. It is a non-surgical method of spot reducing fat over areas like the abdomen and hips. It is a new machine to Australia, and has been in development for the past few years. The machine uses ultrasound to destroy unwanted fat cells. Unlike traditional ultrasound  Liposonix focuses ultrasound energy to a point beneath the skin where it literally blasts the fat cells. The main criterion for being a candidate is that you have to have at least one inch of fat thickness over the treatment area. It is approved for the abdomen, hips and outer thighs, but other areas are yet to be approved. New handpieces for the machine may be released in the near future that will allow treatment of small areas like the chin.

So far, we have trialled the machine on several of our staff members. Although all staff tolerated the procedure, most found it quite painful! There was some bruising and soreness after the procedure, but tolerated well by all.
