What’s The Rave About Rejuran?

Rejuran is one of the most talked-about skin treatments to emerge from Korea, and for good reason. It’s already been used by over 10 million people there and has only been available in Australia for just over a year. When I started hearing more about it, I wanted to see for myself what made it special. So in November 2023, I flew to Korea to visit the Rejuran facility. I got to see where it’s made, how the DNA from salmon is extracted, and how carefully the product is prepared. It was clear to me that this treatment isn’t just trendy, it’s backed by science and handled with incredible care.

Even celebrities like Jennifer Aniston are said to be fans. But what really stands out for me is that Rejuran isn’t just a skin booster, it’s a healer. That’s what makes it different, and that’s why I often combine it with other treatments to achieve even better results.

Why I Use Rejuran With Other Treatments

Healthy skin doesn’t come from one treatment alone. Ageing, sun damage, dryness, and loss of volume all affect our skin in different ways. That’s why I don’t take a one-size-fits-all approach. Rejuran plays a key role in many of the treatment plans I create because it helps the skin repair and strengthen itself over time.

Rejuran is especially powerful when it’s combined with other treatments like CO₂ laser, chemical peels, or microneedling. These procedures create controlled damage to the skin, which stimulates new collagen production and cell turnover. But they also require healing, and that’s where Rejuran shines. It calms inflammation, speeds up recovery, and enhances the overall outcome. In short, it makes the skin respond better and bounce back faster.

So, What Is Rejuran Exactly?

Rejuran is made from polynucleotides (PNs), which are long strands of DNA extracted from salmon. These molecules are very similar to human DNA, which is why the skin responds so well to them. Once injected into the skin, they get to work repairing damage, reducing inflammation, and helping your skin produce more collagen and elastin.

What makes PNs special is how they work. They not only hydrate the skin but also trigger natural repair pathways and reduce irritation. Unlike other injectables like hyaluronic acid, PNs have been shown to be extremely well tolerated, with no known reports of serious side effects like granulomas or nodules.

Recent imaging studies also show that PNs form a unique tessellated polyhedron structure that creates a temporary physical matrix in the dermis. This scaffold helps redistribute dermal tension and stimulate fibroblasts via mechanical cues—enhancing firmness, structure, and skin tone over time.

How I Use Rejuran at My Clinic

At the Victorian Cosmetic Institute, I usually apply Rejuran using mesotherapy which is a technique that delivers tiny amounts of the product just under the skin’s surface. But I don’t just inject Rejuran on its own. I often combine it with other skin-loving ingredients like vitamins, peptides, or hydrating boosters in one session, depending on what your skin needs.

This allows me to treat things like fine lines, dullness, and uneven skin texture more effectively. Rejuran keeps the skin hydrated and supports long-term regeneration, while the other ingredients enhance the overall result.

All procedures carry a risk of side effects and potential complications. The outcome of each procedure cannot be guaranteed, and individual results may vary. A consultation with one of our practitioners is required prior to any procedure to assess suitability for treatment. Patient consent has been obtained to display images.

Why It’s So Well Tolerated

What’s particularly exciting about polynucleotide-based treatments like Rejuran is their excellent safety profile. Clinical evidence shows that PNs are better tolerated than hyaluronic acid and collagen-based injectables. Aside from the expected minor side effects, such as swelling or mild bruising, there have been no significant reports of complications, including granulomas or nodules. In fact, the anti-inflammatory nature of PNs may actively reduce the risk of these immune-mediated responses, making them a reliable choice for sensitive or reactive skin types. So far, no vascular occlusions have been reported with the injection of Rejuran.

What to Expect After Treatment

After your Rejuran treatment, especially if combined with other procedures, you might experience a bit of redness or sensitivity. This usually settles down within a day or two. Because the treatment works gradually, results become more noticeable over the following weeks. You’ll likely notice your skin feeling smoother, firmer, and more hydrated.

To help maintain the results, I recommend using good skincare at home, especially products with ingredients like Vitamin A, Niacinamide, and daily sun protection.

Why Rejuran Fits My Philosophy

In my practice, I focus on results that look refreshed and last. I don’t just want to mask ageing, I want to support your skin’s health from the inside out. Rejuran helps me do that. It doesn’t fill or freeze, it heals. And when combined with the right supporting treatments, it can deliver beautiful, long-term improvements.
